Prelude – “In the Garden” Miles/Mier – Melanie Manges, piano
Welcome to Worship – Charles Gullion
Hymn of Praise – “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” – Worship Team
(Verse 1) I know that my Redeemer lives!
What joy this blest assurance gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead;
He lives, my ever living Head!
(Verse 2) He lives triumphant from the grave;
He lives eternally to save;
He lives exalted, throned above;
He lives to rule his church in love.
(Verse 4) He lives, my kind, wise, heavenly friend;
He lives and loves me to the end;
He lives, and while he lives, I’ll sing;
He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King!
Call to Worship* – Charles Gullion
How do we find the faith to believe the story of Easter, Jesus?
How do we grasp its truth?
We can only accept it
refusing to reduce it to scientific debate
or historical literalism
kneeling with humility and awe beside the blood-stained cross
and the empty grave;
For then, we are your witnesses.
How do we understand the mystery of your death and life, Jesus?
How do we explain it?
We can only live it;
allowing it to permeate every grain
of this sand that forms us,
every thought, every priority, every act and every interaction,
For then we are your witnesses,
and you deserve nothing less from us.
Let us worship Holy God. Amen.
Children’s Sermon – Rev. Lisa Williams Hood
Hymn of Devotion – “In the Garden”
(Verse 1) I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, the son of God discloses.
(Refrain) And he walks with me, and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own,
And the joy we share, as we tarry there, none other has ever known.
(Verse 2) He speaks, and the sound of his voice is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that he gave to me with in my heart is ringing.
(Refrain) And he walks with me, and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own,
And the joy we share, as we tarry there, none other has ever known.

Hymn of Hope – “I Am Thine, O Lord”
(Verse 1) I am thine, O Lord- I have heard thy voice, and it told thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith and be closer drawn to thee.
(Refrain) Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To thy precious, bleeding side.
(Verse 2) Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord, by the power of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope and my will be lost in thine.
(Refrain) Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To the cross where thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,
To thy precious, bleeding side.
Offering – Rev. Hood
Almighty God, giver of every good and perfect gift,
Teach us to give to you all that we have and all that we are,
That we might praise you not with our words only,
But with our whole lives. Amen.
