Prelude“Come, Thou Fount” arr. Smith  Melanie Manges

Welcome to Worship Gordon Coppoc

Gathering Song “Thy Word” #664

(Refrain) Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

(Verse 1) When I feel afraid, think I’ve lost my way,
Still you’re there right beside me.
And nothing will I fear as long as you are near.
Please be near me to the end.

(Refrain) Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

(Verse 2) I will not forget your love for me,
and yet my heart forever is wandering.
Jesus, be my guide and hold me to your side;
And I will love you to the end.

(Refrain) Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Call to Worship (inspired by Luke 15, by Nancy Townley) – Gordon Coppoc

Come, let us celebrate the forgiving, reconciling love of God.
For once we were lost and felt so far away;
now we have been found and welcomed home.
Know that God’s love is lavished upon you forever.
We rejoice at the news of forgiveness and hope!
Come, let us celebrate and praise the God of Love.
AMEN!

Hymn of Praise – “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing”

(Verse 1) Come, thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing, call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet, sung by flaming tongues above;
Praise his name, I’m fixed upon it- name of God’s redeeming love.

(Verse 2) Here I raise to thee an altar, hither by thy help I’ve come;
And I hope, by thy good pleasure, safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger, wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger, bought me with his precious blood.

(Verse 3) O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee;
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O, take and seal it; seal it for thy courts above.

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Rev. Hood

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
 as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

Hymn of Promise“Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”

(Verse 1) Joyful, joyful, we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

(Verse 3) Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest,
Well-spring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother- all who live in love are thine;
Teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine

Offering Rev. Hood

Almighty God, giver of every good and perfect gift,
Teach us to give to you all that we have and all that we are,
That we might praise you not with our words only,
But with our whole lives. Amen.
