About this Sermon |

In John 21:15-19, it feels like Jesus is setting Simon Peter a difficult riddle to solve, which if answered correctly, will tell him something important about what he’s supposed to do now. Life was upended in a huge way for he and the other disciples, and they weren’t sure what to do next. Will Peter solve the riddle about his disciple-hood? Will we?

Gathering Song – “He is Lord”  #305

He is Lord, He is Lord, He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.
Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord! (repeat)

Call to Worshipliturgy written by Rev. Kathleen Sheets

To the fisherman Jesus said:
Follow me and I will make you fish for people.
To the tax collector Jesus said: “Follow me.”
To the rich man Jesus said:
“Go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor,
and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”
At the last supper Jesus said: “Follow me.”
To you and to me and to all of us Jesus says: Follow me!:

Invitation to Prayer

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Rev. Hood

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
